Lore & Background

The day after M-Day, the Leper Queen attacked the Xavier Institute with the Sapien League. They tied Mammomax, Erg, and Peepers to X-shaped crosses and attempted to burn them to death until thwarted by Wolverine and Colossus. Later, the alien Daap brought Polaris and the Leper Queen to a nearby temple of Apocalypse. Apocalypse found the Leper Queen's bloodlust and thirst for vengeance too much to handle and denied her the chance to become one of his Horsemen, Pestilence. He gave this "honor" to Polaris instead and chained the Leper Queen up. She was later forcibly recruited into the Purifiers and infected with the Transmode Virus. She used a modified version of the Legacy Virus to infect Beautiful Dreamer and Fever Pitch, causing them to lose control of their powers and kill thousands of civilians before killing themselves. However, she felt guilt over killing humans for Bastion's cause. Leper Queen injected Surge and Hellion with the Legacy Virus and sent them both to the United Nations to face the same fate as Beautiful Dreamer. Since Bastion would not allow the Leper Queen to kill herself, she planned for X-Force to kill her to save her captive, Boom Boom. Boom Boom was killed by Leper Queen, but was saved by a time-traveling X-23, who killed Leper Queen. The Leper Queen thanked X-23 for killing her, thus freeing her from Bastion.

Reader's Guide

The Leper Queen is a highly skilled fighter with an affinity for weapons. She is also infected with the Transmode Virus by Bastion. As the masked leader of the Sapien League, an extremist anti-mutant organization, she orchestrated attacks on mutants including the Xavier Institute. She was denied the role of Pestilence by Apocalypse due to her excessive bloodlust. Later, under Bastion's Purifiers, she used the Legacy Virus to infect mutants, causing mass civilian casualties. Her guilt over killing humans led her to seek death, ultimately achieved when X-23 killed her at her own request.
